These Wings has been streaming on the fader for a minute now, but tomorrow it finally comes out! To mark the occasion, Wise Blood is releasing a remix EP on facebook in exchange for a "like."

Pretty much all the takes here work pretty well, but the two stand outs by Hooray for Earth and Evan Voytas work as polar opposites. Each takes one half of Chris's conflicted nature: the wanna be saint, and the total party monster and amplify it to the logical extreme.

Wise Blood - @F**kwiseblood

An ode to facebook and twitter dedicated to his facebook fans is pretty much exactly the kind of thing I've come to expect persona-expanding Wise Blood. @F**kWiseBlood has a dusty, old school hip-hop vibe that throws in some oboe and electric guitar. With a chorus that feels sleezy even if it really isn't and an opening salvo that begs for repeat listens, the track has definitely reinvigorated my excitement for this dude.

For better or worse, neither Penthouse Suites (the first Wise Blood song I wasn't digging enough to post) nor @F**kWiseblood will be on his upcoming EP for Dovecote.

Wise Blood- Losing my Mind (Live)

I don't really know how I slept on this for so long, but NYCtaper has the audio from Wise Blood's opening set for Wu Lyf at Glasslands last Friday night. If you didn't hear any of the post SXSW hype, I'll sum it up for you: Apparently he's an entirely different beast live. Straight up rapping/yelling replace the usual falsetto chants and live drums help add to the urgency. Wise Blood thrives on paradox, and his live show just adds another dimension. To be honest, its almost reminiscent of Nu Metal, but the divide between what we've heard from '+' and Laufman's live presence can keep even the largest skeptics fascinated.

Really great, professional music video for the first Wise Blood song I ever heard. The video's already starting to generate a lot of buzz, and even though it might be more because of the Star of video than the song itself, any publicity is good publicity right? I can't wait for Wise Blood to take over the world!

Wise Blood just released a new Single on P4k today. According to the site, Loud Mouth will be part of Wise Blood's next EP, to be released on Dovecote records. Loud Mouth is basically a sleek piano jam punctuated by B movie screams and backwards Hymns. Seriously creepy, seriously sexy.

Wise Blood - Rot My Brain Away

A few weeks ago I wrote a post about the A Side to Wise Blood's upcoming single on the legendary transparent. Solo 4 Claire was quite the departure from his first EP, the excellent `+`. The B Side, Rot My Brain Away is almost exactly the opposite. Rot Your Brain Away sounds a bit closer to Wise Bloods fellow freak&B pioneer How To Dress Well and it definately feels like a culmination of Wise Blood's work so far . `+` has several moments that recall religious reverence, but Rot Your Brain Away brings the religious associations to the forefront. While the song is undeniably tinged with darkness I still can't tell if its all for irony or there sincerity under the layers of fuzz, in an interview with the Pittsburg Music Report (Wise Blood's hometown) he claims in passing that he is "very religious". Its an intriguing piece any angle you take on it, but until theres more evidence to sway me the opposite direction I am going to assume there is at least some sincerity, I'd rather not imagine something so beautiful being spawned entirely of cynicism.

One of my current favorites, Wise Blood will release a single on Transparent in November, and they're offering the A Side for free right now. Solo 4 Claire is nowhere near what I was expecting from Wise Blood. Its still got the signature skewed/half remembered samples but the hip hop backdrop is totally gone, replaced instead with a stomping psychedelic beat. The vocals seem much more aggressive, in both tone and lyrical content and to be honest are pretty scary. It reminds me a bit Animal Collective's Summertime Clothes, and the distance it has from the majority of his work so far is really exciting.
