Total Bummer mixtape - Vol 1

I didn't make this mixtape, but I'm going to count it as the mixtape for the week anyways because I'm lazy. Total Bummer 2.0 is a 3 day event coming to Tallahassee March 25-27th. Boasting 60 artists (that doesn't include visual artists!) in 3 days and taking place in and around Railroad square, Total Bummer is going to be a damn good time for all us Tally Folks. Bands include: Gobble Gobble, Reptar, Hear Hums, Waylon Thorton and the Heavy Hands, Moonlasso ,Oh Fortuna and obviously a ton more. According to their facebook, Spirit Cat is " a collective/record label of electronic music based out of Gainesville, FL", and I'd give props to whoever specifically made the mixtape if I knew.
Find More info on Total Bummer on their website or their angelfire (lol) and check back for updates on the second phase of the line-up.

If you're not in Tallahassee and really don't care, don't worry. I'm just about finished with a mixtape for next week (I'm finally getting back into the routine). On that note, if anybody wants to contribute some artwork for next week's mix email me.

kind of a big deal

Arcade Fire won album of the year!!! I was considering posting some write-up about how important it is for Indie Music ect ect, but you can read better write-ups than mine. As you can expect, some people weren't so pleased about the underdog victory.

In other BIG FREAKING NEWS,
Radiohead has continued their tradition of announcing albums a week before they're available. The In Rainbows follow up is called "The King of Limbs" and thats the cover art above.
Preorder The King Of Limbs here as either a 9$ digital download or a 48$ deluxe "newspaper(?)" version of the album.

Low Anthem - Ghost Woman Blues (David Letterman)

The Low Anthem played a new song on David Letterman a few nights ago. The song is titled Ghost Woman Blues and will be on "Smart Flesh" which drops February 22.
Did I mention this song features JAW HARP???

Update: Download the studio version of the song below

Wavves - Mutant

A few days ago, Wavves and Best Coast released a split 7". Personally, I really don't like Best Coast at all, and the Wavves song was sub-par at best. Obviously, when I don't like a song, even if I like the band I'm not going to post about it, so I never did. Yesterday though, Wavves released another song for free on his blog, and this one has definitely stifled my disappointment. Mutant would have fit right in on King of the Beach, and that is fine with me.

Panda Bear

Panda's finally decided to pop back up this month! In January we've seen a release date, a collaboration and now a music video for a song that probably won't be on the album.
The much anticipated Tomboy is now officially set for release on April 19th.
The Collaboration is with Ducktails and you can stream the song over at P4k.
The Skate video is below, and to my knowledge only the first song is Panda.
I think it might be my favorite of everything he's released since he announced Tomboy, but Alsatian Darn is definitely in the running.

Ben Gibbard Covers Radiohead, is proud of his new album.

Yep. Props to Ben for being courageous enough to cover Radiohead! I mean if you're going to attempt to cover a Radiohead song "All I need" is probably one of your best bets (especially for a guy with similarly moody songs) but he still gets props because it turned out being pretty great! I've been listening to it on repeat for a good 15 minutes now.
In other Death Cab news check out this interview w/ Spin for news on their new lives as family men and their new record. Ben claims he is embarrassed by the amount of "self loathing" on Narrow Stairs and that he is extremely proud of their follow up.
In other Radiohead news Thom Yorke has a new single out!! Of two minutes straight of silence!! but its for charity so pretend you're still excited. Check out the details on Stereogum.

Radiohead, Fleet Foxes finished recording!

1st off, Radiohead is "done recording a new group of songs", according an essay by bassist Collin Greenwood! The essay is pretty lengthy, but definitely worth your time. Greenwood talks about the decision let their fans decide what in rainbows was worth to them, and how the internet has changed since then. He doesn't really say if this next album (group of songs... whatever) will be released in a similar matter however.

In more awesome "the music is ready" news, Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes posted this update on their facebook:

Fleet Foxes Hey all, it's been a bit since a recording update. Well, recording is done! We are flying to New York tomorrow to mix and master the album and will have information about release date and when you'll get to hear a song or two SOON. Geologically soon but soon. -Robin

Anyways, heres a remix from each of those bands last album's to get you excited!
